Celebrating Our First Wedding Anniversary

I know, I can’t believe it – a whole year since we said the big “I do’s”. The year has flown by as I often tell you in my blog posts! But it really has, I remember waiting for the wedding felt like a lifetime, then our honeymoon which came around pretty quick, and now our 1 year anniversary as a married couple!

Seeing as it was our first anniversary we wanted to do something special, but I had no clue what. Jack took me out for dinner one night to Miller and Carter near our home and let it out that he had booked a hotel for us in Manchester for the night. (He’s not the best at keeping secrets, not that I mind- I quite like finding out).

So on the day Jacks mum collected Lola for weekend and we headed down to Manchester which took just over two hours from Leicester. Jack had booked The Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel through (our fave website to use), and it was beautiful, a very well ran, clean hotel. We were checked into a room on the 14th floor, which was the top floor, and we did slightly look at each other for a second wondering if they’d gave us some kind of penthouse suite just by luck, which wasn’t the case – fair enough.

Not that it mattered the room is still gorgeous, and Jack had arranged with the hotel to have rose petals scattered over the room which was really sweet, the views over the city were amazing from the huge windows! You had all the amenities you would need for a night stay, include tea and coffee, great shower and a mini bar, which be warned – goes off with sensors so after I picked a bottle of vodka up to look at it and put it back they tried to add it to the bill! That was easily resolved though.

Manchester is such a lively city, we did a bit of shopping, longed at all the stuff we couldn’t afford in Selfridges and found a place to have some lunch. We stopped at Hard Rock Café for our food, which was really enjoyable, I went for a BBQ pulled pork burger and a glass of prosecco of course. We headed to a few other bars pubs for a couple of drinks which were all PACKED. Bearing in mind this would of been about 2pm and everywhere was so busy, the bars were full, it was just really great atmosphere.

Overall it was a lovely trip, it was romantic and special just how we wanted it to be but with a touch of normality such as the bars haha! I’d definitely return to Manchester and to The Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel – they even had a Spa which I’m gutted I didn’t get chance to visit! And afternoon tea!!

Thank you Hubby!
